Catering FAQ



Q: How much advance notice do I need to give for my catering order?
A: Since we tend to make everything from scratch, we do ask for a little advanced prep time and wiggle room before your event:

  • For large offsite events with lengthy guest lists, we request a minimum of 14 days advance notice before the event
  • To book out Grassroots Pantry for a private event, we request a minimum of 7 days advance notice
  • For smaller catered events, we request a minimum of 3 days advance notice

Q: Do you require a deposit?
A: Yes please. A deposit of 50% is required to secure your order.

Q: In the case of cancellation, will I get a deposit refund?
A: If a catering contract is signed and deposit has been paid, we will fully refund your deposit provided you cancel at least 7 days prior to a large offsite event or private restaurant booking, and 3 days prior to smaller catering orders. An administrative fee of $500 per day (from date of signed contract to date of cancellation) will apply.

Q: I would like to order a customized cake. What’s the advanced order time, deposit/cancellation terms and delivery charges for ordering cake?
A: We request 3 days of advance notice for cake orders. A 50% deposit is required only for cake orders above $500. In the case of cancellation, a full deposit refund will only be given if the order is cancelled 2 days before pick-up date. Delivery charges are as follows:

Hong Kong Island – $50-$250
Kowloon – $200-$600
New Territories – dependent on location

Q: I’m terrible at cooking and I need help serving my guests. Can you provide chefs and service staff for hire?
A: Yes, we can arrange for your very own private chef hire for $350/hour and service staff hire for $200/hour.

Q: I’m also struggling with setting up the event. Can I rent serving equipment and furniture please?
A: Indeed you can, as we have various kitchen equipment and furniture available for rental. Please contact us for more details.
